Dr. Bellah received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1979. His post-DVM training included an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Louisiana State University, a year in private practice in Niceville, Florida, and completion of a small animal surgery residency program at the University of Tennessee in 1984. Dr. Bellah became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1986 and was a faculty member at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine until 1998 when he moved to Jacksonville to join a private veterinary surgery specialty practice. In 2003, Dr. Bellah joined the faculty of Auburn University and served as Professor of Soft Tissue Surgery and was also the Director of the Southeastern Raptor Center. He was appointed and served as Head of the Department of Clinical Sciences for 14 years until he retired in March of 2021. Dr. Bellah’s special interest is general (soft tissue) surgery.
Dr. Bellah was born in Hamilton, Montana, and has lived in Idaho and Colorado. He met his wife Karen, an Orlando native, in Gainesville, Florida and since moving to Clermont, FL in April of 2021 are close to their daughter Audrey and son-in-law Ryan. Four dogs are part of the Bellah family, McCormick a Chiweenie, Max-Wyatt thought to be a Newfador, and grand-dogs Si a Lab-Catahoula mix, and Jedi a Border Collie.
